The seventh-seeded Windsor girls soccer team (13-9-2) is taking the Div. 1 North Coast Section playoffs by storm. On Wednesday night, the visiting Jaguars' magic continued as they defeated No. 3 Ukiah on penalty kicks in a semifinal game to move on to the final.

Windsor will play No. 1 Montgomery on Saturday at a site to be determined. The Vikings defeated the Jaguars 6-0 and 4-0 in regular-season NBL play.

“We will have to change some things up against Montgomery,” Windsor coach Mark Archambault said. “We are really on a roll and great timing for it. We are playing great soccer right now.”

Windsor, which finished in a tie for fifth place in the NBL, dispatched No. 2 Maria Carrillo and No. 10 Santa Rosa in earlier playoff rounds.

“Windsor is doing something right,” Ukiah coach Adriane Bray said of the Jaguars' chances on Saturday. “Windsor never gives up and executes well. On any given night ...”

The Jaguars won Wednesday's 0-0 game on penalty kicks 5-4 as Windsor goalie Briana Davis saved one more kick than Ukiah goalie Ali Dale. Davis scored the first penalty kick for Windsor and Taylor Brogdan converted the winner.

“There were not a lot of shots on goal. Defenses were tough on both sides,” Archambault said. “It was an extremely physical game.”

Bray said the loss was a tough way to end the season.

“We possessed the ball 80 percent of the game. We had numerous shots but couldn't get them in. Windsor had a lot in the back,” Bray said. “I don't think the penalty kick results represent the game.”

Montgomery 3, Casa Grande 0

The No. 1 Vikings (22-1) easily won their semifinal match against the visiting No. 4 Gauchos (11-9-1) to advance to Saturday's final.

Montgomery scored all three goals in the first half to coast to victory.

“Our defense played solid all night,” Montgomery coach Pat McDonald said. “We controlled the first half and put the pressure on them.”

The Vikings scored in the 20th minute as Cindy Arteaga converted on a corner kick from five yards out, with an assist by Reagan Connell.

Connell sizzled in a penalty kick for the second goal in the 24th minute and Arteaga hit a 10-yarder for a goal in the 40th minute, assisted by Vic Prado.

“Arteaga is a handful. She is comfortable with the ball and moves well without it,” Casa Grande coach Vince Cortezzo said. “We started out well in the first half but then we made a lot of mistakes. We are pretty young and we were a little nervous…The third goal just kills you. Being down three goals at half is really difficult.”

St. Vincent 4, St. Helena 0

The visiting No. 7 Mustangs (18-4-1) had a relatively stress-free Div. 3 semifinal victory against the No. 6 Saints (13-5-2). St. Vincent will play No. 1 seed powerhouse Sonoma Academy on Saturday, time and place to be determined.

“The first 20 minutes both teams were playing well,” St. Vincent coach Kevin Richardson said. “Once we were able to identify their dangerous players, we were able to shut them down and grow into the game.”

The Mustangs had goals by Madsy Neilsen, assisted by Neila Gross, on a 25-yard kick in the 20th minutes; a short goal by Athena Edwards (assist Grace Hosbin) in the 50th minute; Hosbin with a 20-yard goal in the 60th minute and a 20-yard strike from Monica Lopez in the 75th minute.

The No. 3 Knights (16-4-1) were eliminated in a Div. 1 semifinal by the host Tigers (21-2-1).

Lick-Wilmerding of San Francisco scored in the 38th minute on a 25-yard set piece by Drew Tomao and in the 70th minute on a 12-yard goal by Nathan Logan on a Tigers counter-attack.

“We kept trying to play the ball long instead of possess it in the midfield,” RUP coach Tino Fonzeca said. “We just couldn't get through their backline.”

Fonzeca said goalie Alan Arquieta kept his team in the game.

“He played well. He had some great saves,” Fonzeca said. “This was the best senior class I've had as far as leadership on and off the field. I wish we were playing one more game.”

Making Waves Academy 2, Calistoga 1

The visiting No. 5 Wildcats (16-5-2) lost in a Div. 2 semifinal game to the No. 1 Marlins (22-1-2) of Richmond to end their season.
