Pac-12 women's basketball: Stanford defeats Cal 60-55

No. 15 Stanford defeated its Bay Area rival for the second time this week.|

BERKELEY - Erica McCall led a balanced attack with 14 points and 10 rebounds and No. 15 Stanford defeated rival California for the second time this week, 60-55 on Friday night.

Brittany McPhee had 12 points, Kaylee Johnson had 11 and Lili Thompson and Kailee Johnson had 10 apiece for the Cardinal (19-5, 9-3 Pac-12), who outscored Cal 15-4 in the third period.

The Golden Bears (11-12, 2-10) led 34-27 at the half, but with Thompson scoring five and McPhee four, Stanford scored the first 13 points of the second half.

The Golden Bears, who lost 53-46 at Stanford on Tuesday, went 1 for 10 and had five of their 13 turnovers in the third period.

Courtney Range, who had 25 points, hit a 3 for Cal to make it 56-53 with 26 seconds left but Thompson and McPhee made two free throws apiece to seal it.

Stanford held Cal to 32 percent shooting, 24 in the second half.
