Analy's boys basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Santa Rosa 53-51 Tuesday night in the Panthers' gym.

The home team led by seven points early in the fourth before Dominic Tripodi and Aidan Toner-Rodgers took over the game.

Tripodi scored 10 of his game-high 17 in the final quarter, including a free throw in the final minute, to give the Tigers a two-point lead.

Toner-Rodgers contributed seven of his nine points in the final stanza.

Santa Rosa had a chance to tie the game but Kalei Aukai's attempt was knocked out of his hands as he drove for the basket.

“Give credit to Santa Rosa for playing good defense,” Analy coach Brett Page said. “They played physical and made us work hard on offense.

“Our defense had some breakdowns and Santa Rosa took advantage of most of those.”

Tripodi's 17 led all scorers. Jordan Armstrong had 14 and Jack Newman contributed 10.

Newman made a quick change of sports. He quarterbacked the Analy football team that was eliminated from the North Coast Section Tournament last Friday.

For Santa Rosa, Alex Diggs led the way with 14 points.

Isaiah Steele, the quarterback for the Panthers' football team, scored 13 and Aukai, another football player, chipped in with 10.

“I was happy with our defensive effort,” Santa Rosa coach John McGill said. “Missed free throws hurt us. We only made 8 of 17.”

It was the opener for the Panthers while Analy moved to 2-0.

At Piner, the Prospectors began their season by making 10 of 21 shots behind the arc.

Two of the key 3-point shots were made in the fourth quarter by Brendan Carpenter. Jace Foster made four free throws in the final minutes to keep the lead safe.

“We did pretty good for our first game,” coach Mike Erickson said. “We don't have much height, so that's going to be a problem for us all season.”

Foster led the Piner offense with 24 points. Scott Erickson was next with 14 and Andres Barrigan finished with 13.

For Rancho, Connor Barbato led the way with 19. Jake Simmons, who played for the football team on Saturday, changed uniforms and scored 13.

CASA GRANDE 53, VINTAGE 43

At Petaluma, the Gauchos cut down on turnovers in the second half and picked up the victory.

“We turned the ball over 11 times in the first half and cut it down to four in the second half,” coach Jake Lee said.

“We have the typical things we have to work on, but overall I was pleased.”

The score was 9-9 after one quarter and by halftime, Casa had assumed a 25-20 lead.

Josh Jovick had a big game for the Gauchos. He scored 20 (including four 3-pointers) and also had seven rebounds.

Ian Cerruti added 10 while point guard Noah Bailey scored seven to go along with five assists and three steals.

SAN RAFAEL 56, ELSIE ALLEN 53 (OT)

At Elsie Allen, the Lobos trailed by 16 at halftime before rallying to send the game into overtime.

“We changed from a man-to-man to a zone and held San Rafael to four points in the third quarter,” coach Madison Lott said. The Lobos got back in the game by score 19 in the quarter.

Two sophomores - Ricky Torres (12 points) and Aaron Klaut (10 points) - led Elsie Allen (0-1). Torres also had 10 rebounds.

“We started a freshman, two sophomores and two juniors,” Lott said. “They were nervous at the start but came on strong after halftime.”
