The Friday night baseball game between Sonoma Academy and St. Vincent was suspended when the lights wouldn’t come on at Doyle Park.

The score was 12-12 when play was halted just as the sixth inning was about to start.

A city employee was contacted but before he arrived 35 minutes later, the umpires called the game. The lights were turned on a few minutes after the suspension was announced, according to Sonoma Academy coach Dave Cox. The athletic directors will decide when the game will be resumed. The schools are scheduled to play again May 19.

Friday’s game was for sole possession of first place in the NCL II. Both schools came in with 5-0 league records.

Also, the Coyotes’ pitching staff came into the game with six consecutive no-hit games.

Had the game been completed Friday, that streak would’ve ended. In the first inning with two outs, Liam Galten hit a ball that landed at the bottom of the outfield fence for a double.

Now, since the game wasn’t completed, the no-hit streak is still alive.

Sonoma Academy plays at Technology on Tuesday.

The Coyotes had all the momentum when play was suspended Friday. After trailing 9-1 in the third inning, they scored three in the third and four each in the fourth and fifth innings.
