Analy quarterback Jack Newman was in midseason form Friday night in Sebastapol as he threw four touchdown passes while leading the Tigers to a 40-14 victory against Maria Carrillo.

Newman wound up with 343 yards while completing 22 of 33 in the season opener. His first two touchdowns were to Spencer Vogel and he finished up by connecting with Erik Bendyke for two second half scores.

Vogel caught 12 passes for 152 yards while Bendyke snared four for 109.

Analy came out quickly and led 20-0 after one quarter.

Carrillo's scores came in the second and third quarters and both were on passes by Jake Wolski. He hit Seth Vernon for 22 yards and then DeQuran McCollins for 3 yards

The Analy defense accounted for one touchdown and special teams got another.

In the first quarter, Jordan Parks jumped on a blocked punt in the end zone and later in the half, Osiris Zamora returned a kickoff 86 yards to paydirt.

The game followed dedication ceremonies for Analy's new field.

WINDSOR 42, PETALUMA 7

Petaluma's touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a 10-yard run by Justin Wolbert.

“I didn't know what to expect being the first game of the year,” coach Tom Kirkpatrick said. “We were encouraged and pleased.

“Kobe Roman did a good job playing quarterback in a game for the first time.

“The defense played well giving up only seven points to a good offensive team.”

Roman completed 11 of 20 passes for 149 yards while Joe Pignataro and Bas Osborn led the defense with seven solo tackles each. Jared Mulholland had six solos to go along with four assists.

Baughman was Windsor's leading rusher with six carries good for 57 yards. David Escarsega carried five times for 55 yards.

The game was moved to Cardinal Newman because the Windsor field was unplayable.

Receiver Austin Rapolla led the offense with three touchdowns including one catch for 89 yards. At the end of the night, he had seven receptions good for 187 yards.

The Vikings' defense held Piner to a second quarter touchdown.

Soni Fakalch scored a defensive touchdown when he fell on the ball in the end zone following a blocked punt.

Connor Russell was credited with five solo tackles and assisted on three others.

“We're excited as a team,” Montgomery coach Marcelo Bautista said. “Of course, we have room to improve but overall we played pretty good. I liked the enthusiasm. We played at a fast tempo and did it successfully.”

At Santa Rosa, quarterback Isiah Steel accounted for 245 all-purpose yards to lead the Panthers.

“This was something we can build on,” coach Dennis Brunk said. “We still have an uphill battle but the guys played their hearts. It's a good win over a good team.”
