With its cool temperate climate and proximity to gorgeous views, Santa Rosa was named the 29th best city for runners by Runner's World Magazine.

The magazine compiled its annual top 50 list using data from five indexes measuring factors such as running activity, access to public spaces, climate, restaurant proximity and safety. More than 250 cities with populations over 160,000 were considered.

San Francisco was the top-ranked city, thanks in part to the nine running-related stores within its city limits, 16 organized running clubs and an endless number of scenic routes.

Other Bay Area cities that made the list were San Jose (14) and Oakland (21).
