Maria Carrillo’s boys and girls teams dominated the North Coast Section Redwood regional track meet Saturday at Redwood High School.

The Puma boys teams finished with 102 points, 10 ahead of runner-up Redwood and the Puma girls finished with 56 points to edge runner-up Tamalpais by four points.

The individual star of the day was Santa Rosa junior Kirsten Carter. She won individual championships in the 100-meter and 200-meter races, then turned it into an unusual triple by winning the discus competition.

Windsor’s Ruben Mehler was a double champion, taking the shot put and discus competitions.

Montgomery’s Jaymes Tischbern nearly got the sprint double in the boys meet. He won the 200 and placed second in the 100. His Montgomery teammate Thomas Thomsen won the 100 hurdles.

Other individual championships in the boys meet went to Jack Dunbar (800) of Petaluma, Brian Schulz (3,200) of El Molino and Brayden Glascock (300 hurdles) of Santa Rosa.

Girls individual champions included Assata Poka (400) of Maria Carrillo, Habibah Sunusi (110 hurdles) of Maria Carrillo, Aubrianna Taia (300 hurdles) of El Molino, Savahhan Nied (pole vault) of Maria Carrillo, Amani Baker (long jump) of Maria Carrillo and Petaluma teammates Camille Leoni (triple jump) and Clare Pierce (shot put).

Maria Carrillo dominated the relay races, winning all four in the boys and girls meets.

In the boys Class A meet at Montgomery High School, Rincon Valley Christian led local teams with the fifth-place finish. RVC got team points from Wesley Methum (third in 3,200 and fifth in 1,600), Jacob Worthy (third in high jump), Robbie Leng (fourth in high jump) and Nick Dolan (second in pole vault). Leng also won an individual championship in the 110-meter high hurdles.

Sonoma Academy finished sixth led by Remy Barbiero’s individual championship in the long jump and fourth-place finish in the triple jump. St. Helena, with third-place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, finished ninth.

In the girls meet, junior Rylee Bowen won championships in the 800 and 1,600 and placed second in the 3,200 to lead Sonoma Academy to a second-place finish. The Coyotes also got an individual championship from Maddy Glenn (300 hurdles).

Kelsey Lemoine of Middletown was a double winner with championships in the 100 and 200. Kylie Olson (discus) of Rincon Valley Christian and Annika Kao (pole vault) of Fort Bragg also won championships.
