Ray-Ray Armstrong and Reuben Foster reportedly saved their own lives Sunday by turning and running from at least two armed assailants.

Mission Local's Joe Eskenazi reported Tuesday late afternoon that the two 49ers linebackers escaped would-be armed robbers by running away, in a move several police officers praised.

“We are aware of the reports regarding the robbery and are very thankful no one was harmed,” the 49ers said in a statement. “Reuben and Ray-Ray have been, and will continue to be, cooperative with any further police investigation.”

While at the San Francisco dance club Love And Propaganda, Armstrong and Foster had a sneaky feeling about trouble and smartly thought through their exit from the establishment, according to a report citing the police.

Foster reportedly handed some valuables to a friend inside the club and the two football players asked a security guard to walk them to their respective cars.

Eskenazi reported that a white Audi car - which Foster claimed to have suspected - pulled up close before two masked men wearing white hoodies jumped out holding an an assault rifle and a handgun, respectively.

Foster, 23, and Armstrong, 26, sprinted to safety and the would-be attackers retreated, Eskenazi said. The two 49ers then called the police from the nearby Westin St. Francis Hotel.

The 49ers acknowledged the report shortly after it was posted to Mission Local, an independent site (and former UC Berkeley project) focused on the San Francisco district.
