Sonoma State drops Chico State to earn CCAA baseball season title

Sonoma State rallied from a four-run deficit with five runs in the seventh inning to defeat Chico State and win the California Collegiate Athletic Association baseball regular season title, 10-7, in Sacramento on Sunday.

The Seawolves open next week's CCAA tournament in Stockton with a 27-14 record, 24-8 in the conference. Chico is 37-11 and 29-10.

Sonoma scored twice in the sixh on Alex Crosby's sacrifice fly and Steven Moen's RBI groundout that cut the Chico lead to 7-5.

In the seventh, Jackson Stogner had an RBI-single to cut the gap. Eric Ehlow singled up the middle to tie the game. Alex Crosby followed with a home run over the right field fence to give the Seawolves a 10-5 advantage.

Jourdan Weiks homered in the third for Sonoma.Crosby finished 2 for 3 with four RBIs and a run scored. Weiks drove in three and scored twice with two hits.

Cody Lane pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win.
