SRJC routed by Butte College 51-0 in football opener

Santa Rosa Junior College got shut out in the Bear Cubs’ football season opener Saturday, managing only 8 total yards rushing in a 51-0 blowout by Butte College in Oroville.

The host Roadrunners (1-0) controlled the game, with quarterback Easton English passing for 216 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for another. Their defense also had five sacks.

The Bear Cubs (0-1) used three passers, none of whom had much success. Kaylor Sullivan threw for 68 yards and three interceptions, while Jordan Brookshire had 52 yards passing, -22 rushing yards and lost a fumble.

SRJC hosts Fresno City College Saturday at 5 p.m.
