DALY CITY — The Coast Guard says one person has died and two others have been injured after falling from a cliff south of San Francisco.

Petty Officer Loumania Stewart said the accident happened before dawn Saturday after the three victims, all male, broke through a fence running along the cliff near Daly City. A Coast Guard rescue team located the two survivors and put them on a helicopter so they could be treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital.

Stewart says the third person was dead by the time the rescue crew reached him.

North County Fire Authority spokesman Klaus Zalinskis says the fenced-off cliff from which the three fell is located at Palisades Park, which houses a neighborhood playground and dog park. The park is also known for its views of the Pacific Ocean that lie beyond the fence.
