Former Sonoma County high school referee Pete Dardis dies at 77
Longtime Sonoma County sports official Pete Dardis died Thursday morning after a battle with lung cancer. He was 77.
Dardis, who officiated games and supervised officials for nearly four decades, was a familiar fixture in local high school football and basketball circles, well known among many in the prep coaching community.
Dardis was a former president of the North Bay Officials Association and in 2012 received the California Interscholastic Federation North Coast Section Distinguished Service Award.
Dardis was the subject of a Press Democrat story by columnist Bob Padecky this past Sunday. You can read that column here.
