Opening Night for Warriors: What you need to know

The Warriors take on the Thunder tonight and there will be plenty of pomp and circumstance surrounding the two-time defending NBA champs.|

The Golden State Warriors, winners of the last two NBA championships and three out of the last four, open up their 2018-19 regular season with a celebration honoring last year’s title Tuesday night at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder in a nationally televised game with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. Fans attending the game, the first home contest of the final season at Oracle Arena, are encouraged by the team to be in their seats by 7:15 p.m.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, along with Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, will present last season’s players, coaches and front office staff with diamond-clad rings crafted by Jason of Beverly Hills. Also, the 2017-18 NBA championship banner will be unveiled, honoring the team that beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games in June.

The Warriors feature their core players Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green heading into the season, and they await the healthy return to action of new center DeMarcus Cousins, who will give the team five All-Star performers in their starting lineup when he returns from Achilles tendon surgery.

Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston are among the returning Warriors who will receive their championship rings before the game.

All fans in attendance on Tuesday will receive an Opening Night T-shirt, and the first 10,000 fans will receive a Golden State Warriors 2018 NBA Championship banner, courtesy of Rakuten.

Oracle Arena doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with cash parking gates opening at 5 p.m. and parking pass gates opening at 4:15 p.m.

Tickets for Opening Night were still available as of Tuesday morning and can be purchased at warriors.com, or by calling 1-888-GSW-HOOP.
