Homeless man tossed into San Francisco trash truck
SAN FRANCISCO — Authorities say a homeless man suffered minor injuries after being accidentally tossed into a San Francisco recycling truck.
The man was sleeping inside a dumpster full of cardboard when it was picked up Tuesday morning by a Recology truck in the city's Sunset District.
Recology spokesman Robert Reed told KGO-TV the truck's driver heard banging and yelling from the belly of the truck and drove to a nearby fire station. Firefighters brought the man down a ladder to safety.
Reed said the man suffered a shoulder injury by a hydraulic push wall that compresses the cardboard. He said the driver turned off the equipment when he realized there was a man among the cardboard.
