Hockey fans and community members will have the chance to make a big impact while enjoying an exciting matchup as the Santa Rosa Growlers partner with the Redwood Empire Food Bank for a food drive at their Friday game in Santa Rosa.

The “Hat Trick for Hunger Relief” event will take place Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Snoopy’s Home Ice, according to a news release from the Santa Rosa food bank.

The Growlers, a Senior A-level semiprofessional hockey team based in Santa Rosa, are encouraging fans to bring non-perishable food donations to the game against the San Diego Hockey Club in exchange for perks.

The first 25 people to donate three food items will receive free standing room admission, while the first 50 donors who contribute five items will get a limited-edition Growlers shirt. Fans looking to make an even bigger impact can donate 10 food items or $10 to earn an entry into a raffle for two season tickets to the 2025-2026 season and a $100 Old Caz gift card.

“The Hat Trick for Hunger Relief Food Drive is a perfect example of how our community can come together to support those in need while enjoying a fantastic night of hockey,” said Rachelle Mesheau, director of marketing and communications for the Redwood Empire Food Bank in the release.

Some of the most-needed items, according to the food bank, are canned tuna or chicken, peanut butter, rice, pasta, oats, cereal and beans.

“As a team, we’re committed to supporting our community both on and off the ice,” Santa Rosa Growlers’ Managing Director Michelle Harris said in the release. “We encourage all our fans to come out and contribute to this great cause.”
