Drug impairment suspected in Santa Rosa crash
A 32-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after he crashed into a parked car early Monday in west Santa Rosa, CHP officials said.
Witnesses called police about 5 a.m. to report a Pontiac Grand Am had crashed into a parked Porsche on Sebastopol Road near Roseland Avenue and said the driver had exited the car and was lying on the ground, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.
The driver, Michael Williams, and his passenger, Angelo Mezzanato, 44, of Santa Rosa, both “showed signs of extreme drug impairment” and were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Sloat said. Officers suspect they had used opioids, he said. Officers arrested Williams and released him to the care of the hospital.
