DUI checkpoint set for Rohnert Park

Last year there were 41 DUI crashes in Rohnert Park investigated, including one fatal, police said.|

Rohnert Park police will hold a DUI checkpoint Friday night.

Officers will be checking for driver sobriety and valid licenses during the operation, which will run from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. The location wasn’t released, but police officials typically choose streets where crashes occur and where drunken drivers have been stopped.

Rohnert Park officers last year responded to 41 collisions involving suspected DUI drivers. One crash was fatal.

Police in a statement issued a warning to drivers: if arrested while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, it could cost them $13,500 or more.
