DUI checkpoints this weekend in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park and Petaluma resulted in the arrest of five suspected drunken drivers and two others wanted on felony warrants, police said.

Santa Rosa’s checkpoint netted two suspected impaired drivers, police said. Officers also cited 14 people for driving without a valid license.

They stopped 1410 vehicles during the Friday night checkpoint at Highway 12 and Streamside Drive on the east side of town. It ran from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. the next day. The suspected drunken drivers, ages 27 and 54, were both from Santa Rosa.

Rohnert Park and Cotati officers also held a checkpoint Friday night on East Cotati Avenue at Santero Way. Between 8 p.m. and about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, they stopped 936 drivers and arrested two women, ages 35 and 37, suspected of driving drunk. Officers cited three others for license violations.

Petaluma police held two checkpoints Saturday night, starting in east Petaluma on Old Redwood Highway between Redwood Way and North McDowell Boulevard. From 6-10 p.m. officers stopped 506 drivers and arrested one suspected of DUI. They also gave four citations to drivers with invalid licenses.

Officers then moved across town. They stopped 112 motorists on Petaluma Boulevard North between Kent and Oak streets from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., but none were intoxicated. Two drivers, however, were given citations for license violations.
