Fire burns two homes in Hidden Valley Lake neighborhood

Calls reporting a large fire in Hidden Valley Lake came in midnight Monday.|

Two neighboring homes burned early Monday in the Lake County community of Hidden Valley Lake, according to Cal Fire.

Firefighters were called just after midnight to a large fire on North Shore Drive.

They arrived to find two homes ablaze -already 80% and 60% burned - and flames threatening other homes and nearby open space.

The two two-story residences backed onto Hidden Valley Lake and were not far from the lake’s marina.

The fire inflicted major damage to both homes.

No one appeared to be there at the time but it wasn’t clear whether the houses were occupied, officials said.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury but returned to work.

Cal Fire, South Lake County Fire and Northshore Fire responded and firefighters were at the properties until 3:30 a.m. Investigators Monday searched for the cause.

Hidden Valley Lake is a residential community north of Middletown. A large portion of the area burned in the 2015 Valley fire.
