An unknown objected triggered a power line Thursday evening, knocking out power to more than 1,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers in east Santa Rosa, according to the company.

Just before 6:30 p.m., 1,277 customers lost electricity because an Enhanced Powerline Safety Setting was triggered. The setting turns off power when a fault is detected, such as a tree limb hitting a power line, PG&E spokesperson Deanna Contreras said.

PG&E restored all power by 2:15 p.m. Friday, Contreras said.

“We know the cause of the outage was a fault on a power line located on Crane Canyon Road,” she said. “When we patrolled, we did not find a specific fault.“

Crews were delayed in searching for the fault due to dense fog Friday morning, Contreras said.
