Occidental man crashes near cop’s house, arrested on suspicion of DUI

Judge ordered a blood test of a man found unconscious and partially hanging out of an overturned Camaro by off-duty CHP officer.|

CHP Officer Ken Enger was home Sunday night when he heard a car crash near Mill Station Road outside Sebastopol.

The off-duty officer raced over to the site of the 10:20 p.m. crash, where he found an unconscious man partially hanging out of an overturned Chevrolet Camaro. Enger provided first aid to Daniel Rosas, Jr., 33, of Occidental, until first responders arrived, CHP said in a statement.

Rosas was taken with injuries to a local hospital and later arrested on suspicion of driving drunk, CHP said. He refused blood-alcohol tests, requiring officers to get a signed warrant from a judge for a test, CHP said.

Rosas had been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated multiple times before, CHP said. He was booked in Sonoma County Jail and later released.
