A 53-year-old Petaluma man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunken driving after rear-ending another vehicle stopped at a red light, police officials said.

Gabino Gumaro Carreno-Lopez was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury and felony hit-and-run causing injury, Petaluma police said. Jail records indicated he had been released by Sunday morning.

Multiple 911 callers reported seeing a Chevrolet Tahoe crash into another vehicle stopped on South McDowell Boulevard at East Washington Street and then drive away about 11:35 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

The rear-end collision caused minor injuries to a passenger in the stopped vehicle, officials said. The driver of that vehicle followed the fleeing Chevrolet and called police, informing officers when Carreno-Lopez pulled over on Maria Drive near Park Lane, officials said.

Police said Carreno-Lopez “exhibited signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol” and a test later measured his blood-alcohol level at 0.16 percent, twice the 0.08 percent legal limit to drive.
