Petaluma man arrested in suspected DUI crashes
A Petaluma man was arrested Saturday night after crashing into several cars in the downtown area before plowing his Chevy into a fence, police said.
Kenneth McConnell, 61, was booked on suspicion of drunken driving and felony hit-and-run in the series of crashes that began just after 10 p.m. when he ran into an occupied car at East D and Copeland streets, acting Sergeant Chris Ricci said.
McConnell continued east on D Street, hitting a parked car and stop sign at Wilson Street, Ricci said.
He then drove north on Wilson Street toward East Washington Street, crossing lanes of traffic to hit a raised curb, damaging his tire, the sergeant said.
The driver backed off the curb and drove east on Washington Street until crashing into the fence on Appaloosa Circle.
Witnesses detained him until officers arrived.
McConnell’s bail was set at $100,000.
