Pruning season underway in Sonoma County

It’s not just in vineyards where farm workers have returned to work trimming and making precision cuts, workers have returned to apple orchards as well.|

Good pruners make essential cuts to vines or tree limbs to determine the growth pattern of a wine cluster or fruit tree until harvest. Pruning normally happens when the plants are dormant, which is what crews were doing off Highway 116 at Benvenuto Lane just west of Sebastopol as they worked on Gravenstein apple trees.
