Sinkhole forces days-long closure of I-5 in San Joaquin County

STOCKTON - California Highway Patrol says a sinkhole in Northern California has closed all lanes of northbound Interstate 5.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/25B6tpj) that lanes were shut down Tuesday in San Joaquin County and are expected to be closed until Thursday afternoon.

Traffic will be diverted onto Highway 33 and back onto northbound I-5.

The California Department of Transportation says crews were making repairs to the road near Tracy on Tuesday morning when they discovered a sinkhole about 1 foot in diameter.
