Suspected DUI driver arrested in 100 mph Santa Rosa pursuit
Santa Rosa police early Monday arrested a Windsor man suspected of driving under the influence of drugs and leading officers on a 100 mph pursuit into west Santa Rosa.
About 12:55 a.m. driver Danne James Petras, 38, exited Highway 101 at Steele Lane and ran a red light in front of a Santa Rosa officer at the intersection, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Chris Mahurin said Monday.
When the officer tried to pull Petras over, he ran two more red lights heading west, reaching 100 mph on Guerneville Road, Mahurin said.
He ran from his Range Rover after ditching it on Greeneich Avenue but was stopped after a short chase and brief struggle, Mahurin said.
Officers suspected he was under the influence of methamphetamine and arrested Petras on suspicion of felony evading arrest, misdemeanor DUI and obstruction.
He was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation and then booked into the Sonoma County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000.
