Three people suffered major injuries in a drunken driving crash on Highway 1 south of Fort Bragg, the CHP said Tuesday.

CHP officers arrested a 64-year-old Fort Bragg man on suspicion of driving drunk and causing a head-on collision. The crash happened about 12:15 p.m. Saturday near Jug Handle Creek Bridge.

The suspect, who wasn’t identified, was driving a 2003 Saturn north on the highway at about 60 mph when the car crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2013 Ford driven by a 47-year-old Napa woman, CHP said. She and a male passenger, 47, of Napa, were taken to Mendocino Coast District Hospital in Fort Bragg.

The suspected DUI driver was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
