Tips sought in search for missing man

Family members were searching for a Santa Rosa exterminator and wedding disc jockey who apparently disappeared on Wednesday.

Brian Scobey, 35, didn't return to work after leaving Wednesday morning for extermination appointments for his job with Hitmen Termite and Pest Control.

His boss, John Merritt, found that Scobey had made his first appointment that morning but didn't make the rest, said Sonoma County Sheriff's Sgt. Darin Dougherty.

Scobey's wife reported him missing to sheriff's deputies around 5 p.m. that day and the department launched a four-hour search. Deputies searched Sonoma and surrounding unincorporated areas with helicopters and on the ground. The search party didn't find any sign of him, Dougherty said.

"I really don't have a feeling either way whether he up and left or not. There's no hard information," Dougherty said.

Scobey is described as an olive-skinned Caucasian, six feet, about 230 pounds, bald with brown eyes, a mustache and groomed goatee. He was driving a white pickup with the company logo, Scobey's wife said.

Anyone with information about Scobey can call the Santa Rosa Police Department at 996-3601 or Sonoma County Sheriff's Office at 565-2121.
