Sonoma County grape grower meeting Thursday

Sonoma County Winegrowers will hold its annual Dollars & $ense seminar and trade show Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts.

Rob McMillan, executive vice president and founder of Silicon Valley Bank’s wine division, will provide the keynote address on new trends with wine consumers.

More than 50 local and national firms will have booths at the event. The cost to attend is $20 for local growers and $35 for those within the wine industry.

New SRJC wine classes ?for spring semester

The Santa Rosa Junior College wine studies program is offering three featured courses for its spring semester that starts on Jan. 17.

A wine event planning course (Wine 131) will be held Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. Chris Hanna, president of Hanna Winery, is the instructor.

A wine lab class (Wine 55) for those in the college’s enology program will be held Thursdays from 4 to 9 p.m. Kevin Sea, director of the wine studies program, is the instructor.

A class on the wines of Spain (Wine 121) will be held from 6 to ?9 p.m. Journalist Gerald Boyd will teach the course.

Signorello Estate starts rebuilding effort

Signorello Estate, the Napa Valley winery that burned down in the Atlas fire, has started the rebuilding process by selecting a San Francisco architectural firm to oversee the design of a new winery and cave facilities.

Taylor Lombardo Architects will handle the design. The firm, which also has offices in Oakville, also did projects for Silver Oak Cellars and Wheeler Farms Winery.

The winery picked Nordby Construction Co. in Santa Rosa to handle the building of the new structures.

The new winery will feature “a very open, modern structure” with a full-service kitchen that will allow for extensive wine and food pairings, according to proprietor Ray Signorello Jr. The rebuild also includes a personal residence for the Signorello family.
