Former Sonoma County District Attorney Michael Mullins has joined the staff of the Legal Aid of Sonoma County as a supervising attorney. Mullins has served as the dean of the Empire College School of Law since 2018. His tenure as the county’s top prosecutor ran from 1995 to 2002. Previously, he was a deputy district attorney in Sonoma, Orange and Solano counties.

Mark Gregory Nelson has joined Tavelli Co., Inc., a Santa Rosa-based receivables management firm, as a strategic advisor and shareholder. He served as president and chief operating officer of the Nelson Family of Companies (1995 to 2008). He has spent three decades launching, building, repurposing and investing in businesses in the staffing, managed services, real estate, technology and financial services industries.

Elizabeth Woods of Sonoma has been reappointed to the California Board of Registered Nursing, where she has served since 2014. She served as an adjunct clinical professor at Sonoma State University from 1984 to 1995 and as a registered nurse labor representative at the California Nurses Association from 1994 to 2007. She has been a volunteer family nurse practitioner at the Jewish Community Free Clinic since 2002.

Christy Cooper of Windsor has been appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown to the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. Cooper has been chief audiologist at Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa since 2017, where she has held several positions since 2009, including supervising audiologist and clinical and dispensing audiologist. Cooper was managing audiologist at the California Ear Institute from 2007 to 2008.

Diana Lasso has assumed the role of hospitality manager for Opus One Winery. Diana joins the Napa Valley winery with over 11 years of luxury fine wine experience and comes from a deep background of management and guest services. She will be responsible for ensuring that all guest encounters reflect the distinctive image, style and values of Opus One, as well as managing the guest relations team.

Wendy Welling has been selected as the new executive director of the Humane Society of Sonoma County. She will succeed Cindy Roach, who is retiring in August after more than 10 years with the Humane Society. Welling, of Santa Rosa, has served as director of community and customer relations since 2016, overseeing adoptions, public training and marketing. Previously she served as director of marketing.
