Transcendence Theatre Company in Sonoma has teamed up with a cast of New York-based Broadway performers to stage the "Sonoma Strong Benefit Concert for California Fire Recovery," a one-night only performance Sunday, Nov. 5.

The concert will take place at The Green Room 42 in New York City and will be streamed on Facebook Live at 4 p.m. for those on the West Coast.

The fire benefit event will feature 25 performers, including a few who have been directly impacted by the wildfires. “One of the performers in New York grew up in Sonoma with her family. We have a couple that lives in Kenwood and they will fly to New York and share some words,” said co-executive director Stephan Stubbins.

“A Broadway performer couple who recently got married at Paradise Ridge will also share some personal messages during the show.”

The deadly fires have burned more than 110,000 acres throughout Sonoma and Napa counties. Firefighters achieved 99 percent containment as of Monday. Full containment is expected later this week.

“There's something about music and that can be very powerful for a community in a time of healing,” Stubbins said.

Transcendence Theatre Company, a nonprofit known for producing the award-winning, “Broadway Under The Stars” open air performance at Jack London State Historic Park, has raised more than $350,000 for the park since its inception in 2011. Due to the recent devastation of the North Bay wildfires, the fundraising efforts have shifted to a more immediate need.

Tickets for the 7 p.m. event in New York will cost $30 per person. The live stream can be seen at facebook.com/TTCsonoma.

Transcendence Theatre Company has developed the "Rise Up & Recover Fund" to help support the communities of Glen Ellen, Kenwood, Santa Rosa and Sonoma. Proceeds from this campaign fund will help to support fire victims, evacuees and first responders. To donate or for more information visit www.RiseUpAndRecover.org.
