Steely Dan, George Lopez, Kansas among 11 shows added to Luther Burbank Center lineup

Tickets go on sale at noon April 26 for 11 new shows recently added to the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts 2019-2020 season, including performances by comedian George Lopez and classic rock bands Kansas and Steely Dan. The new shows are:

- George Lopez. 8 p.m. Friday, July 26. The comedian’s career covers television, film, standup comedy, and late-night television. He’s currently the star and executive producer of “Lopez” on TV Land. $55-$69.

- Café Tacvba. 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept, 10. The Mexico City quartet emerged from the rock en español scene of the ’90s to explore indie rock and electronic music. Most recently, the band released its eighth studio album, “Jei Beibi,” in May 2017. $49-$69.

- Kansas. 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. The ‘70s rock band returns to Sonoma County with its “Point of Know Return Tour,” performing the 1977 album in its entirety, including the hit “Dust in the Wind.” The show also will include the band’s other hits and fan favorites. The band’s lineup features original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist and vocalist Billy Greer, keyboardist David Manion, vocalist and keyboardist Ronnie Platt, violinist and guitarist David Ragsdale, guitarist Zak Rizvi, and original guitarist Richard Williams. $59-$125

- Steely Dan. Saturday, 8 p.m. Sept. 14. Founded in 1971 by Donald Fagen and the late Walter Becker, the band issued seven platinum albums issued between 1972 and 1980, and scored hits with “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number,” “FM,” “Peg,” “Hey Nineteen,” “Deacon Blues,” and “Babylon Sisters.” Steely Dan reunited in the early ‘90s and was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Co-founder Becker died in 2017. $99-$159.

- The 44th Annual San Francisco Comedy Competition Semi-Finals. 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. The contest that launched the careers of comedy stars from Dana Carvey to Ellen DeGeneres, makes its annual visit to Luther Burbank Center. Past participants include 1979 Champ Marsha Warfield, who went on to “Night Court” to star as Roz the bailiff, as well as 1982 finalist Kevin Pollak and 1987 finalist Rob Schneider, who went on to film careers. $46.

- The Australian Pink Floyd Show; “All That You Love World Tour 2019.” 8 p.m Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The tribute band has been performing the music of Pink Floyd note-for-note since 1988. $39–$59.

- The Rodney Strong Vineyards Dance Series presents the MOMIX dance company, founded and directed by Moses Pendleton, and famed for creating stunning illusions on stage. 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. $20-$49.

- The Rodney Strong Vineyards Dance Series presents Posada Navideña by Calidanza, a celebration of Christmas and holiday traditions from across Mexico, at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. Under the direction of California’s Maestro Award winner, Steven Valencia, performancea showcases the beautiful folk culture of Mexico thorough dance, music, and song. $10 adults, $5 children; $2 lap passes (children 2 and under.)

- Keola Beamer and Henry Kapono, Hawaiian music legends since the 1970s. 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020. They will be joined by Kumu Hula (Hula Master) Moanalani Beamer for their Luther Burbank Center engagement. $35-$49.

- The Rodney Strong Vineyards Dance Series presents Ailey II at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020. Started in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, Ailey II continues fame choreographer Alvin Ailey’s mission to provide dance performances, training and community programs. $20-$49.

- “Cake Master Live: Demo with Duff.” 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2020. Master pastry chef Duff Goldman, known for his TV show “Ace of Cakes,” will talk about his internationally-recognized cake shops, bestselling cookbook, successful line of branded products and eight network cooking shows, then present a live demo showcasing some of his signature designs and recipes. $39–$49; VIP Meet & Greet: $99.
