Rohnert Park man gets prison for DUI crash that killed motorcyclist

A 64-year-old man Wednesday received a six-year prison sentence for drunken driving that resulted in a crash that killed a motorcyclist last year in Rohnert Park.

Robert A. Bosch earlier had been convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for the death of Fabian Carreras-Hermosillo, 23. Both men were Rohnert Park residents.

The collision occurred along Snyder Lane shortly before 6 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2017. While traveling north, Bosch turned his Ford Ranger left into the parking lot of the University Square shopping center, directly into the path of Carreras-Hermosillo, who had the right of way.

Carreras-Hermosillo didn’t have time to slow down, police said. He slammed into side of the pickup, flew off his motorcycle and landed on the street.

After the crash, Bosch was found to have a blood alcohol level of .252 percent, more than three times the legal limit for drivers.

Judge Robert LaForge sentenced Bosch to state prison.

“This is yet another tragic loss of life that could have been easily avoided,” Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch said in a statement. “Driving while impaired is not only illegal, it is reckless and dangerous.”
