Santa Rosa police arrest suspected burglar after foot chase

The man, who changed clothes while running from police, was jailed early Tuesday.|

A man suspected of trying to break into a house and shed in downtown Santa Rosa early Tuesday was arrested after a short foot chase, police said.

The incident was reported about 6:40 a.m. in the 1000 block of Third Street, Sgt. Marcus Sprague said.

A resident heard noises at an open window and found someone had tried to look inside, knocking items on the floor, he said.

The residents looked out at the yard and saw a man loading items from the shed into their unlocked car, he said.

They ran outside to confront him and he fled, Sprague said.

Officers arrived as the man ran into nearby Santa Rosa Creek, changing his clothes in an apparent attempt to disguise himself.

The man was caught and arrested. He was identified as Daniel Terribilini Jr., 35, a transient in the Santa Rosa area.

He was being booked into the Sonoma County jail on charges of burglary, trespassing, vandalism and resisting arrest. He was also charged with a probation violation out of Solano County.
