Santa Rosa mother arrested on DUI, child endangerment charges after crashes

A Santa Rosa woman was being held without bail and her 3-year-old daughter turned over to her parents after her arrest Wednesday evening for suspicion of driving under the influence of multiple prescription drugs with her child was in the car, the CHP said.

Heather Jean Bonin, 36, was on probation for a prior charge of driving under the influence when she was arrested Wednesday night, authorities said.

Officers already were en route to a report of an impaired driver on Hall Road in west Santa Rosa when they learned of two hit-and-run crashes in quick succession on Hall Road and then Occidental Road on Wednesday evening, the CHP said.

Officers who overtook Bonin's 2005 Chevrolet Impala and made contact with her quickly noticed signs of impairment and conducted an evaluation, authorities said. She was arrested on two counts each of suspected child endangerment, hit and run and driving under the influence, and one count of violating probation, the CHP said.

She remained at the Sonoma County Jail on Wednesday and was being held without bail, jail personnel said.
