Missing Santa Rosa 11-year-old girl found

An 11-year-old girl who went missing from Binkley Elementary last week was safely returned to family members Sunday afternoon after a relative found her with her mother, who does not have custody of the child, Santa Rosa police said.

The girl, Jada Falls Scott, told police she was not harmed and had been well-cared for while staying with her mother, identified by police as Vianna Scott, 38, Sgt. Brenda Harrington said.

The relative found the pair Sunday afternoon somewhere outside Santa Rosa city limits, but within Sonoma County, she said. Only Jada Falls Scott returned home with the relative, Harrington said.

The girl was first reported missing Thursday afternoon when a relative went to pick her up at the school but did not find her there. Officers learned Vianna Scott had likely picked up her daughter earlier that day, but did not believe the girl was in any danger.

Officers had not yet contacted the girl’s mother as of Monday and were still investigating whether she committed any crime, Harrington said.
