A northwest Santa Rosa elementary school was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon, as deputies searched for a man suspected in a robbery at a nearby apartment complex, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said.

The robbery was reported just before 1 p.m. at the Vineyard Creek Apartments off Airport Boulevard near Highway 101, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Nixle alert.

The Jack London Elementary School, about 5 miles south of the apartment complex, was put on lockdown following the report, school officials said on social media.

Authorities arrested a suspect in the robbery about an hour later, the Sheriff’s Office said in a subsequent Nixle alert. However, no other details were available Wednesday.
