RACE REGISTRATION, MARCH 8

Santa Rosa: Register online by March 8 for The Empire Runners Club Ilsanjo Classic 10-miler, Neo-Classic 4-miler or 1-K Newt Scoot race for kids ?10 and under. Race starts at ?8 a.m. March 11 at Howarth Park, Spring Lake and ?Trione-Annadel parks. Online registration is $10; kids and under free; and race day registration will be $20. BIRD BOX, FEB. 25

Petaluma: Help a bird in nesting season by building a bird box for your home, 2 to ?4 p.m. at Helen Putnam Regional Park, 411 Chileno Valley Road. FIRE ECOLOGY HIKE, FEB. 24

Santa Rosa: LandPaths’ Executive Director Craig Anderson leads a three-mile roundtrip hike with significant elevation ?1 to 4 p.m. in the Dawn Redwoods Preserve on Calistoga Road near the St. Helena Road turnoff. The hike presents views of the area burned in the October Tubbs fire. Bring snacks, water, hat and sunscreen. Pets not allowed. This hike is not geared toward children. WINGING IT, FEB. 28

Petaluma: Older adults and their friends take a leisurely bird walk, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Tolay Lake Regional Park, 5869 Cannon Lane.
