Seghesio Family Vineyards is bringing back its annual Zin & BBQ Festival at 4 p.m. July 21, with three Sonoma County chefs competing at the grill to produce the best pork rib and zinfandel pairing.

Held in the winery’s outdoor grove, the event includes live music and ample tastes of pork barbecue and pours of Seghesio zinfandel.

Paella at Robledo

Robledo Family Winery will celebrate its third annual Paella Dinner at 6 p.m. July 21 at the winery in Sonoma.

Lobster at Sbragia

If you can’t get back to New England this summer, you can still enjoy a real, old-fashioned lobster bake at 6 p.m. July 21 at Sbragia Family Vineyards.

Hanna gives back

Hanna Winery has launched a benefit event for community organizations on the second Saturday of each month that features live music and a special wines-by-the-glass menu and cheese pairings.

The benefit, which is held at both the Russian River and Alexander Valley tasting rooms, donates 30 percent of proceeds from a 24-hour period to local arts organizations and nonprofits.

Walk in the woods

Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods will hold a Gourmet Walk in the Woods from noon to 4:30 p.m. July 21 at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve.

The afternoon includes a walk along the Pioneer Nature and Discovery trails, followed by appetizers and wine pairings by local chefs, then desserts, live music and poetry readings in the Redwood Forest Theater.

WINDSOR

Chili cook-off

The fifth-annual Windsor Chili Cookoff will heat up from noon to 4 p.m. July 14 on Market Street on the Windsor Town Green.

For the cook-off, sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society, the main competition will be in the red chili category, but cooks also can compete in the homestyle chili category.

Live music, craft beer, wine and spirits, iced tea and brownies also will be for sale.

Admission is $25 and will benefit the Windsor Fire Foundation and the culinary program at Windsor High School.

Market turns 40

The Healdsburg Certified Farmers’ Market - one of the original, 22 farmers markets to launch in California - will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a party on July 14 at the market in the West Plaza Lot.

Festivities will feature cake, sparkling cider and live music by the New Skye Band.

There will be fun stuff for kids to do, including a scavenger hunt, face painting and animal balloons.

The Sonoma County Traveling Fair, a preview of the annual fair opening Aug. 2, will visit and bring kids’ games, popcorn and 4-H animals.
