OPEN COCKPIT WEEKEND. AUG. 18-19

Santa Rosa: See inside the planes that fought in the Vietnam War and learn their history, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Pacific Coast Air Museum, One Air Museum Way near the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. Suggested donation is $10 adults, $7 seniors, $5 children 6-17, free to kids 5 and under and to active and retired military and $30 for a group of seven. ACCORDION FESTIVAL, AUG. 18-19

Cotati: This year's annual festival celebrates two days of peace and music à la Woodstock, 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. at La Plaza Park at Old Redwood Highway and E. Cotati Avenue. A nonprofit community event benefiting local youth groups. One-day general admission $17; seniors 65 and up $15. Two-day tickets are $27 for everyone. CAPTURE RECOVERY, AUG. 19

Glen Ellen: Bring your camera and capture the recovery of the landscape at Sonoma Valley Regional Park, 13620 Highway 12, from the October fires during a two-mile walk, 10 a.m.-noon. For teens and adults, registration required. Free, parking $7. Visit SonomaCountyParks.org.

TRAILS CHALLENGE, AUG. 19

Healdsburg: Practice map reading, observe nature and discuss trail etiquette and safety while meeting new hiking partners during a free, easy hike 4-6 p.m. at Riverfront Regional Park, 7821 Eastside Road. SUNSET HIKE, PICNIC, AUG. 20

Santa Rosa: Bring a picnic dinner and wear warm layered clothing for a three-mile, moderate to steep hike at Saddle Mountain Open Space Preserve on Cleland Road off Calistoga Road. Sonoma: Slow-pace, one-mile twilight hike 7-8 p.m. on the Montini Trail starting in the parking lot of the Vallejo home at Spain and West Third Street. Free, all ages.

PEPPERWOOD ROCKS, AUG. 25

Santa Rosa: Learn about the geology of the Mayacamas Mountains in Pepperwood Preserve, 2130 Pepperwood Preserve Road, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with SRJC geology instructor Rebecca Perlroth. For ages 13 and up. $30, $25 for members. Meet at the Dwight Center.

TOUR DE FOX WINE COUNTRY, AUG. 25

Santa Rosa: The Michael J. Fox Foundation's fundraiser for Parkinson's Disease. Open to bicycle riders of any experience level. Start at 8 a.m; finish line festival at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates and Garden, 5007 Fulton Road. BIKER CHICKS, AUG. 25

Rohnert Park: The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition's Biker Chicks meet and depart from Bear Republic, 5000 Roberts Lake Road at 10 a.m. for a three-hour ride including stops. Rides usually end between 12:30-1:30 p.m. Choose among a slow 17-mile and two 23-mile rides at different speeds. Bring a road-ready bike and helmet, ID, cash for lunch, spare tube, patch kit and mini-pump. Visit bikesonoma for details.
