Two injured in Petaluma Hill Road crash

A two-car crash on Petaluma Hill Road early Wednesday near Penngrove injured two and created a morning commute traffic jam along the major route.

Two ambulances responded to the 7:50 a.m. crash at Petaluma Hill Road at East Railroad Avenue.

The drivers, a man and a woman, were taken to Kaiser Permanente and Petaluma Valley Hospital with minor to moderate injuries, said Rancho Adobe fire Battalion Chief Andy Taylor.

Initial reports indicated at least one driver needed to be freed from the wreckage but Taylor said the driver's door was jammed in one vehicle and the driver got out through another door.

Petaluma Hill Road is a major thoroughfare connecting southern Santa Rosa to northern Petaluma and paralleling Highway 100.

Traffic was diverted to Railroad Avenue to Old Redwood Highway and the crash created quite a slowdown for other drivers, according to reports.
