A Clearlake woman remained in custody at the Lake County Jail on Sunday after her arrest last week for suspicion of attempted murder in a knife attack on her live-in boyfriend, police said.

Embree Vance, 40, reportedly stabbed her 58-year-old boyfriend multiple times while he was engaged in a fight with her adult son, police said.

The incident came to light shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday when the victim turned up at St. Helena Hospital in Clearlake with several stab wounds to his abdomen. He later told police that he had been stabbed by Vance in their Dam Road home, authorities said.

Officers responding to the house found Vance and her son, Shandoah Vance, 18, walking nearby. Like the victim, they were both intoxicated, police said.

The woman admitted stabbing the victim during an altercation between the two men, police said. She still had the knife in her possession, police said.

Vance was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and felony domestic violence, and was being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. Her son was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, police said.

The victim was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment and was last reported to be in stable condition, police said. His name has not been released because he is the victim of suspected domestic violence.
