Santa Rosa's high of 70 beats 80-year-old record

Santa Rosa's high temperature of 70 degrees Friday made a mockery of winter and eclipsed a record set in 1934, according to official weather records.

Friday's high temperature was four degrees warmer than the record set 80 years ago. And the forecast calls for more of the same heading into next week.

"It's not budging," Diana Henderson, a forecaster for the National Weather Service, said of the high pressure mass that is stoking the heat.

High daytime temperatures for Santa Rosa this time of year normally hover in the mid-50s.

Henderson said the forecast calls for a slight chance of rain Tuesday or Wednesday. But she wasn't optimistic that prediction would pan out.
