There are several ways to help the residents of Anderson Springs as they set out to recover from the devastation of the Valley fire.

- Resident Whitney Vosburgh has created an appeal for donations to the community at gofundme.com/saveourass.

- The historic neighborhood’s Erica Felton Parisi has gone onto GoFundMe to request donations to Steve Shurelian, who’s credited with saving the recreation center and quite likely the life of a neighbor who is disabled. Shurelian picked up the neighbor and, realizing that flames blocked their escape from Anderson Springs, took refuge at the creekside rec center.

Shurelian placed the disabled man in the shallow water, then, all through the night of Sept. 12, used two garden hoses to defend the rec center. He saved it, but the house he rented and his work truck were destroyed.

Donations to Shurelian can be made at gofundme.com/pk4vmkhw.

- Plans are coming together for a musical benefit for Anderson Springs on the evening of Oct. 12 at Sonoma’s Sebastiani Theatre.
