A multiagency workshop aimed at helping people rebuild in the aftermath of the Valley fire is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Twin Pine Casino event center.

The “After the Fire Rebuilding Summit” and open house is for people whose property was damaged by the fire, as well as for those seeking advice on how to protect their properties in the event of another disaster, according to county officials.

A team of experts in fire- and flood-resistant techniques will be available for individual question-and-answer sessions. Insurance, building, landscaping and forestry representatives also will be on hand.

Topics for discussion include: state and local codes and standards; building materials and construction techniques for fire and flood prevention; preservation and restoration of treasures and photos; and proper landscape development and forest maintenance to reduce fire and flood risk.

Representatives from local businesses will have samples of fire- and flood-resistant building products. Local design professionals also will be on hand.

Participants include Cal Fire, the California Fire Safety Council, California Contractors Licensing Board, California Insurance Commission, Lake County Historical Society, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, FEMA, Cal OES, the National Flood Insurance Program and the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.

The Valley Fire Long-Term Recovery Task Force meeting will begin immediately after the workshop.

Twin Pine Casino’s event center is at 22223 Highway 29, Middletown.
