A Santa Rosa driver whose passenger was killed in a drunken driving crash was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison.
Antonio Moreno-Murillo, 22, was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in the July 20, 2014, crash that killed Sarai Torres-Nunez, 22, of Santa Rosa.
Moreno-Murillo had consumed multiple alcoholic drinks with Torres-Nunez, described as his childhood friend, when he got behind the wheel after leaving a bar, prosecutors said.
He exited Highway 12 at Dutton Avenue, ran a red light and continued up the onramp when he crashed, prosecutors said.
The car rolled and hit a tree, killing his passenger.
Moreno-Murillo had been convicted previously of alcohol-related reckless driving. Judge Gary Medvigy handed down the maximum sentence.
