A suspected impaired driver rolled his car Tuesday night on a highway south of Sonoma leading to a closure of the road for almost an hour.

Kenneth Dunlavy, 44, Petaluma, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and drugs in the crash that happened around 6:45 p.m. on Highway 121, south of Meadowlark Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

He also was charged with violating his probation, according to CHP Officer Elon Steers.

Dunlavy's southbound 2005 BMW sedan went out of control on a curve, hitting an embankment and causing it to land in the middle of the road on its roof.

Just prior to the crash, witnesses had reported the BMW being driven recklessly.

Officers arrived at the crash scene with Dunlavy still inside the overturned vehicle, Steers said.

Dunlavy, who reportedly sustained minor injuries, was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital for treatment.
