Pilot walks away from Napa plane crash

The pilot failed to take off and crashed into a levee next to the airport Wednesday afternoon.|

A pilot was uninjured Wednesday afternoon after crashing an airplane while attempting to take off from the Napa County Airport, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded to the call at 2:26 p.m. as the pilot failed to take off and crashed into a levee next to the airport, according to Cal Fire. The pilot, whose identity was unavailable, was flying solo.

The aircraft suffered major damage, Cal Fire said. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
