Santa Rosa’s Frank Pugh named president-elect for national board

Santa Rosa school board member Frank Pugh will serve as president-elect of the National School Boards Association this upcoming school year.

The announcement came Monday during the organization’s annual conference in Denver. A delegate assembly of 150 school board members from across the country held elections during the three-day conference, which kicked off Saturday. Pugh, who attended the event, currently serves as the secretary-treasurer of the association, which represents more than 90,000 school board members throughout the country and promotes equity and excellence for public education.

A counselor and instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College, Pugh has been involved with the organization for nine years, serving on numerous committees. He also sits on the California School Boards Association Board of Directors, where he previously served as president. He was elected to the Santa Rosa City Schools board in 1990, which makes him the longest serving member.
