Suspected DUI driver gets car stuck on SMART tracks in Rohnert Park

SMART train service was delayed Saturday afternoon when a woman suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol got her car stuck on railroad tracks just north of Rohnert Park Expressway.

Tyra Ingalls, 23, of Santa Rosa was allegedly driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.263 about 3:20 p.m. when her car left the expressway and traveled 70 feet down the tracks, where it got stuck parallel to one of the rails, police said.

Trains were held at the Cotati station while a tow company took about 45 minutes to remove the woman’s white Toyota Camry, a news release from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.

Ingalls told officers that she was driving west when another vehicle started swerving, causing her to leave the roadway, the release said.

No SMART passengers were at risk during the incident, and railway officials were on scene immediately to stop train service, police said. Ingalls was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
